WSMV Image Campaign : I Work 4 You

We were going for a personal approach to our marketing message for this Channel 4 News investigative promo spot. The through spine for the visuals was to show how a single person can make a difference if they only pick up the phone and call the Channel 4 News tip line. To be true to the message we turned to a real tip caller as our caller in the promo.

This was the first full spot I shot on the 4K Blackmagic URSA. This is not a small camera meaning I was forced to focus on composition and lighting with very little means to effectively move the camera well. I tried my best to make the obstacle into a stylistic choice.

The whole idea of "I work 4 you" was to break away from the cliche "Working 4 You," which many stations across the country use. I wanted to create a news promo which did not look like news promo. Plus, our research revealed our anchors were perceived to be less personable as our competitors. By showing a little bit of why our anchors care we hoped to soften their edge just a little bit. Below you can find the first attempts we made to break the news promo mold.
